The Dance of Reality is an upcoming film written and directed by Alejandro Jodorowsky based on his autobiography of the same name. He has stated that he wants to "lose money with the film." It has been described as being "surrealistic."[2][3][4]
The film follows Jodorowsky's childhood in Chile. One scene will depict how Alejandro was refused food at his school because he was wealthier than the rest of the town, because his father has a store which sold women's undergarments. [5]
Jodorowsky's son -- who also acted in Santa Sangre -- will play Jodorowsky, and Jodorowsky will play "Brontis." Jodorwosky's other children will also act in the film. Adanowsky, also a musician, will play "an anarchist," and Christopher Jodorowsky will play "a kind of Higher self or spiritual guide." [6]
After scouting for locations in Chile at his childhood village in the Spring of 2011, Alejandro got permission from the local Chilean government to shoot in the coming spring. On August 22, 2011 he held a forum with the locals to discuss his vision with the film. [7] Shooting begins May 2011. The film will be produced relatively quickly as Alejandro has stated he will be shooting the sequel to El Topo in the September after he is finished with The Dance of Reality. [2][8]
It will shoot in Tocaphila, Santiago, and southern Chile. [9]
